A Message from the President
2007 had been a
fruitful year for RAS with many new developments and milestones achieved.
Under
outreach and education, the Happy Toilet School Education Programme
popularity is evident during the Clean and Green Singapore Schools’
Carnival as RAS garnered an overwhelming crowd at our showcase in
Wonderland. Two primary schools have also made it to the top 5 in the
national Roving DV competition whereby they featured the Happy Toilets in
their schools. Not only so, we also had our counterparts from Australian TV
Network drop by in another of our HTSE participating school for a Happy
Toilet Learning Journey!
World
Toilet Day 07 was a blast with the undergraduates of Singapore Management
University as we
jointly show our appreciation for the unsung heroes
– the toilet cleaners of today’s society. Such is
a fine example of the stealthily increasing number of youth who are
becoming more concerned about local toilet issues.
We
also gave corporate organisations a run for their money as RAS staff
participated in the Corporate Environment Outreach Run at Semakau Landfill to raise funds for ourselves and other
NGOs.
With
such interesting happenings at RAS, it is small wonder that the public is
now much more vocal and concerned about toilet matters, drawing an increase
in the media attention on local toilets.
We
at RAS, are very grateful for your support and contributions in the past
year, without much, we could not have progressed so far. We look forward to
your continued support in 2008 whereby RAS will be rolling out a nationwide
LOO campaign, so keep a look out for us!

Tan Puay Hoon
